Decompression

School is officially OUT for all three schools. Preschool wrapped on Tuesday and the grade/middle school ended after an end-of-the-year mass on Wednesday. I am pleased to report that everyone ended the year on a high note and will be advancing to the next grade in the fall. (Yes, there was a hint of doubt regarding one child, but there was a fantastic finish to what had been a somewhat less than stellar effort to start with.)

So, I have been off for 2 whole weekdays (meaning days I wasn't required to get up before 6:30 a.m.) and my nervous twitch is already showing improvement. I feel like the weight of the world has been lifted when I no longer have to worry about whether it is a PE uniform day, is it an "alternative" lunch day or do I need to pack lunches and for which kid, and who needs to be picked up at what time. Not surprisingly, my biggest concerns now are not letting everyone sleep until 1 p.m. resulting in them staying AWAKE until 2 a.m. and having enough provisions (food) for the kitchen grazing that takes place all day.

We have about two weeks of lazy days, then we get crazy days again (well, sort of). Hubby and I are taking #1 son to college orientation and course registration for three days, then the day after we return, hubby and I depart for Asia for a week long celebration of our 20th anniversary. Mom-in-law is coming to stay with the herd. (Her turn for an entirely different nervous twitch.) Luckily, she has my sister for back-up.

Back to our trip... Hubby goes to Asia frequently, but I have never been and am really looking forward to it. We are going to Tokyo and Hong Kong and Macao. Anyway, hubby said something really romantic (for him anyway). He said that this is our "someday" trip that neither his parents or mine ever got to take. We've actually been very fortunate that way in that we have traveled to a lot of places many people only dream about.

More about that another time. I am getting in the pool for a while. I have been doing my "water work-out" for the past 4 days. It's sort of an unofficial goal of mine to do it every day I'm home this summer. No pressure you understand ; - )
