Age of Perfection

My youngest child, my fair-haired, blue-eyed boy will be 18 months old in a few days. After watching him for the past year and a half as well as his six predecessors for various amounts of time. I have decided that this is the perfect age, for both him and me.
Consider this: He is almost always happy to see me when I come into a room. It doesn't matter if it has been 2 minutes or 10 days. My favorite time of the day lately has been when I go to pick him up from his "kids morning out" at preschool. He only goes one or two days a week and only from 9-12. Just enough time for mommy to shop, have new tires put on the car, get a haircut, etc. Anyway, when I come in the room, he is usually deeply engrossed in playing with blocks, or plastic food or such. As soon as he looks up and sees me, he drops everything, and comes running with a chuckle and a big smile.
Another thing, he finds enjoyment in the simplest things. Watching a lizard on the side of a tree, laughing because someone else in the room is laughing. My favorite is the look of sheer happiness he gets when I take off his shoes and socks after he's been in them a while and he spreads his little toes out.
There is no such thing as peer pressure at his age. He is pretty much doing the same thing as his peers. He is a ways off from the dreaded potty training. He is still small and cute and dependent enough that every bump, bruise and boo-boo gets special fussing over and kisses. The older kids get a band aid and a squirt of Neosporin.
He can say a few words (daddy and keys are favorites), and cannot yet ask a thousand questions in rapid succession, or insult his sister to tears. He also cannot "talk back", though I sometimes think he is starting to try. He also cannot dial my cellphone. Believe me, if I could turn back time, I would perhaps "unteach" this skill to another of my children.
There are no monsters under his bed as his bed is three or so feet off the ground (crib), and he is young enough that if he fusses in the night, it isn't a problem fitting him in the bed with me. (He's incredibly snuggley.)
He can walk, run and climb, but is still short enough I can put things out of his reach. Also, he is still small enough that he's not difficult to carry and doesn't mind being in the stroller. His exercise program consists of putting his toes in his mouth. He still needs a nap and doesn't fight about taking it. Same thing at bedtime.
Yes, I truly think that this is the perfect age. And when he says "I love you, Mommy." like my 4 year-old frequently does, I will re-evaluate. I like to keep an an open mind.
