I Hate Sunday Night

I always have, ever since I was younger. There are several reasons. I guess when I was little it was because I didn't want the weekend to be over. I suppose that is still true, but there are more reasons as well. Monday morning ranks as number one. I am never as prepared as I want or intend to be. I am not a morning person either. Adding to that fact is that I never sleep well on Sunday night. I tend to be thinking about all I need to accomplish in the week to come as well as rehashing all the things that I didn't get done over the weekend and during the previous week. Interestingly, this phenomenon is not limited to Sunday nights exclusively. If, for instance, we have a long weekend where we have a Monday off from school, the sleeplessness rolls over to Monday night instead of Sunday.
My favorite time of the week? Friday afternoon-Saturday morning. Friday, once school is out, I let out a sigh and I am done. No homework pressure, no bedtime for the kids (though they are usually worn out and go to bed voluntarily (unlike most other nights). Also, Saturday mornings are my big chance to sleep in. No early mass on Saturday, so unless someone has an activity (SAT tests,, play rehearsals, etc.) or if the baby wakes up early (he doesn't understand the difference between weekends and weekdays yet, but he will) I get to sleep to some decadent time like 9a.m. In the old days, when I was young and single, I rolled out of bed at noon.
The other really annoying thing about Sunday night? No good TV. Many nights when I have a little trouble going to sleep, I turn on Leno or Letterman, set the sleep timer on the TV and doze off before the monologue is over.
Amazingly, reading back over this has made me drowsy. Maybe I will turn off the light and give sleep a chance.
