I am tired of sick people. Let me clarify. I am tired of sick kids. Doesn't that sound awful? What kind of mother am I? My normally healthy, bouncy, noisy household has been reduced to a chorus of coughs and sneezes and moans. Actually, nobody is that sick now. The seven year old was pretty ill last weekend with a sinus infection and fever and the nine year-old missed several days last week with an undiagnosed "tummy ache". The seven year-old missed most of this week from school. She went back today, only for me to have to pick her up early because she fell asleep in class.
The little boys are struggling as well. The four-year-old has an ear infection. He came home early on Monday because of a bad headache and rapidly went on to have a fever and coughing. He is such a trooper though, unlike his sisters who tend to milk the smallest thing, he denied being sick and refused any medicine for a long while. He is coughing his head off right now as he is asleep in my bed. The baby comes and goes. I started him on antibiotic as soon as it came into the house because the poor kid is surrounded by germs. He was feverish and cranky yesterday, but much better today.
I was hoping that with all of the supplements I am on and my new healthy lifestyle, I might be spared. As of right now, I have a tickle in my throat which is making me cough and in turn making my throat scratchy. My nose is drippy and though that in itself seems to be a condition of my advanced years (in other words, a constant) I just feel like I am getting sick, at least a little. I really need to be healthy this week. I have to get everything ready for out Thanksgiving trip including taking 2 cars in for service. I need a clear head and lots of energy to get us at least organized enough to get out the door on Saturday. Wish me luck.
On the bright side, hubby is gone until Friday and as of right now, he is, as far as I know, healthy. Every little bit helps.
Anyway, it is just getting harder for me to work up any real compassion for any of these people, with the possible exception of the baby. He is the least whiny of the bunch, makes few demands and is worth sharing germs with. The bigger ones are wearing thin. Her's hoping that everyone is well by Monday.
