Walking Tall

Wow, the 10th of November. Nearly the season for ranting about Christmas. But before I wander off topic...
Hubby and I did another 5K yesterday. We got up at 5:30 a.m. again and then drove 90 minutes away for the privilege of paying someone a fee (for charity at least) to walk where we could normally walk for free, while being timed and photographed and doing it along with another 300 or so people. At least we got a tee-shirt! Actually, I have to admit, it was hot, it was tiring and it was fun. (Did I really just say that?) Honestly, there was just something about it. I didn't know a single soul there besides my spouse, but we all shared kind of an unspoken goal; to finish and not embarrass ourselves. Obviously, there were some people more serious than others, but everyone was nice and polite and supportive. I was a couple (2) minutes slower than last time, but in my defense, I hadn't walked a bit since Monday, so I was a little rusty. Hubby improved his time by 2 minutes.
Next up for us is a "Turkey Trot" on, you should be able to get this one, Thanksgiving. Hubby is going for the 6+ mi. 10K and my 13 and 9 year-old daughters will join me for the 5K. I told them not to embarrass me too badly, by winning or something : - ) They even have their own new "walking/running outfits. This ought to be good.
